Seattle Sounders, Here We Go.
It has already been said by now, but man does it feel good to find form. The Seattle Sounders have won, yes won, five of the last six games they have played, taken 17 of a possible 21 points since losing to the Earthquakes, and signed the biggest name in American Soccer.
Now most of Sounders nation probably could have looked those number up, but to see them on paper (or a computer screen) really are astonishing. Sure, we lost 1-3 away to the Houston Dynamo, but to be fair we can’t win them all. That was a whirlwind of chances created in a game where the environment was already difficult to play in.
Down to the reason for this post, to prepare for the final stretch of games that could bring us to a Supporters Shield. That should be the main goal here, Supporters Shield. It would bring delight to our new friend, Clint Dempsey, coming from England where they have a full table, and no playoffs. It would also delight us, the Supporters.
People around the world are now taking notice of what is going on in Seattle. They see it as a special place, and after searching the twitters for what people had to say about our latest derby, Seattle is slowly becoming a place where people will specifically travel to. Seattle is a great city, of course, but the Sounders are slowly becoming the international symbol that represents our great city.
As a La Liga guy first, before the EPL, it is wonderful to see the interest in Seattle come from places like www.insidespanishfootball.com and www.marca.com about our Tifo and the apparent new nickname of Eddie Johnson, according to Marca, “Demolition Man”.
How wonderful it is to have a city, and essentially a entire West Coast that has the feel of a European footballing region. The Sounders, Timbers, Galaxy, and Whitecaps all have great fans, star players, and international interest in what they are doing.
There is a reason why football is the number one sport in the world, and those teams have grasped some sort of special magic, and bottled it into the passion that is their club. The Supporters are all amazing and let us not forget that.
The tweet made me laugh all the way to nostalgia in 4th grade. And check out one of my all time favorite Tifo’s via www.weareecs.com
